Hello friends, today I am just going to go on a rampage about why I just get so giddy over tangible music especially vinyl. Be sure to post in the comments why you are a champion of any format as it's all about sharing. I have to say I have been sold on records since the early 90's. Growing up as a 14 year old DIY punk rocker records were the standard format for punk bands and a fan favorite as they were always cheap. In addition the format allowed plenty of packaging space to include fold out posters, instructional pamphlets, zines, and all sorts of goodies that usually would entail further information on the political agendas and way of life these off the grid bands lived and how anyone can put it into application. As a teenager I would collect and trade records with everyone I knew, but by the end of the 90's there might of been a handful of people I knew who still had any vinyl and even fewer who actually listened or cared about the records they had tucked away in their parents closet. With all that, I remained a solder for the so-called dead format that was conquered by the Compact Disc and digital music movement. But as always things always make full circle and records are back on the rise and in 2019 record sales had surpassed CD sales for the first time in 28 years. Hallelujah vinyl is back, the packaging, the art, the tangible music, the experience of queuing up your song and truly listening while mesmerized by spinning of the label has been rediscovered by us and newly discovered by kids today.
